Frequently Asked Questions

What are the requirements to pledge?

  • Poole College of Management major/minor, or expressing any interest in business.
  • Current GPA of 2.75 or higher.
  • Cannot be a graduating senior.
  • Cannot be a member of any other professional business fraternity.
  • Cannot join any other fraternity in competition with AKPsi, however, social fraternities/sororities are fine.

What is rush week(s)?

Rush week(s) encompasses events which are held for prospective members to learn about the fraternity and for the fraternity to learn about future members. Events include meet the brothers, professional speakers, workshops, interviews, and other individual evaluations.

Do you have to attend all events in order to qualify for membership?

While it is not a requirement to attend all events, you must attend two; one must be interview night in professional dress. We highly recommended prospective members to attend as many as possible. It is difficult to thoroughly know each prospective member given the large number of applicants, so every minute in which we interact with a particular person helps make for a much more accurate decision process. Quality time leads to quality decisions that result in quality members.

What is pledging like?

The weekly pledge class meetings are held every Tuesday and Thursday night at 7:30pm unless there is a conflict with NC State's calendar. Meetings are mandatory and professional dress is required on all Thursdays. The length of these meetings is determined by the efficiency of your pledge class, but active chapter meetings generally last 90-150 minutes. As a pledge, you will be required to wear your pledge pin, complete interviews with active brothers during the course of the semester, and other pledge class projects. There will be tests given each week on the history of the fraternity as preparation for the final exam at the end of the semester.

AKPsi's pledge process is intense, challenging and entirely worth the effort. During the semester you will learn an exceptional amount about the fraternity, its members, and most of all, yourself, as you are immersed in brotherhood, professionalism, and hard work.

How will I know I got accepted to pledge?

After submitting your application and attending required events, you will be contacted for a formal bid night with active AKPsi members. During this night you will be notified of your invitation to induction, the official ceremony that begins each semester long pledge process. Here you will meet the rest of your pledge class and be officially welcomed by the Lambda Omicron Chapter.
