Parents

Welcome to the Parents’ Page of the Lambda Omicron Chapter website. You’re making the right decision by wanting to learn more about your student's involvement in Alpha Kappa Psi. Please take a few minutes to learn more about the benefits AKPsi provides.

Opportunities

One of the many benefits of Alpha Kappa Psi membership is how students can mold their chapter to fit the members’ professional and social needs. By joining an elite group of business professionals who are committed to keeping their skills sharp and careers on track, AKPsi allows your student to develop essential personal skills not taught in the classroom, such as leadership, time management, interviewing and much more.

Providing members opportunities to gain experience in leadership positions is a valuable component of Alpha Kappa Psi. There are numerous officer and member positions within an Alpha Kappa Psi chapter that allow your student to develop leadership skills. The basic positions of a chapter include president, vice president(s), treasurer, secretary, master of rituals, historian, chaplain, warden, committee chair(s) and committee member.

Scholarships

The Alpha Kappa Psi Foundation manages numerous scholarship endowments. Established by chapters and individuals, the interest income from these endowments is used to support annual scholarships. Some scholarships are available to all AKPsi students, while others focus specifically on those majoring in specific fields, such as accounting or healthcare management. These scholarships have limited restrictions are are generally open to all members regardless of chapter affiliation and location. Scholarship amounts range between $500 and $2,500.

Insurance

Alpha Kappa Psi carries liability insurance that covers all undergraduate chapters and members.

Responsibility

Alpha Kappa Psi opposes hazing and is committed to a membership education period that teaches values, responsibility and personal and professional skill building. During this time your student and the other new members will participate in weekly meetings to learn about the university and the Fraternity, including leadership retreats, community service projects and activities designed to build friendships.

Support

As a member of Alpha Kappa Psi, your student will not only have educational opportunities in the form of regional and fraternity-wide trainings and events, but also in professional and personal development delivered remotely to his or her computer. A few systems of support are:

  • eLearnings
